Why I Paint Empty Spaces
Clothes carpet the floor, tools spill out of cupboards still waiting for their doors, laundry gets so deep I've wanted to drive in the mini digger. Living in a busy house hold of children, cats and ongoing major Grade 2 listed house renovations can feel chaotic. There's moths in my jumpers so the freezer is full of clothes instead of ice cream. Why i paint
Chairs.... Back in my student days, living in a shared house in the Forest of Dean, there was a chair in the kitchen out of place and unused. It sat there alone with it's paisley cushion seat and upright back. One day the sun poured through the blinds and slitted sunshine laid across its fabric seat. It's beauty struck me. In my first year at Cheltenham Uni, doing a Fine Art Painting and Drawing degree, I took this chair as my subject and observed it in the changing light. U

Deck Chairs and Blossom
I love this time of year as new colours emerge from every branch and bud. I feel well fed on magnolia and cherry blooms and am now buzzing around the apple blossom and bluebells in the garden. My favourite card company Canns Down Press have published one of my favourite magnolia paintings so look out for cards in the shops! My website is up and running and the shop is full of prints and cards. Ordering has never been easier. Studio days are full of flowers and deck chairs.
